Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver BC is delighted to be a new member of the Centre
for Spiritual Renewal. Contemplative practice is an important strand of the Cathedral’s
multi-faceted identity. The Cathedral provides a place of sanctuary, respite, healing and
reflection in Vancouver’s downtown centre. We seek to welcome all and seek to provide
diverse, creative ways that are also rooted from the beauty and riches of our ancient
tradition to encounter the sacred.

A note from the Reverend Areeta Bridgemohan, Vicar at Christ Church Cathedral:

"In my interview for the Vicar position at the Cathedral, a parish leader shared a story of
the Cathedral’s response to the Vancouver Stanley Cup riot in 2011. She recounted that
following the riots, storefronts were boarded up. The city reeled in shock from the
violence and destruction of this event. Cathedral leadership obtained some of graffitied
wood that was used to board up the storefronts, and displayed them in the main worship
space of the Cathedral. People were invited to spend time in that sacred space with those
objects, artifacts of the riot. The parishioner spoke about the powerful impact of this
creative act. In this story, I glimpsed the beauty of the call of the Cathedral to bring the
contemplative and the spiritual into the life of our city"
