Welcome to places & practices of renewal

The Centre for Spiritual Renewal is a group of parishes who provide a wide variety of spiritual support and practices to help us on our Christian journey. Retreats, conferences, study groups, practitioner groups, prayer groups, spiritual direction, and more are offered. We are about supporting people on their spiritual journey using the riches of the Anglican, Christian, and other spiritual traditions to experience God’s love, wisdom, and healing that we may be a loving engaged presence in community and for the world.

The Centre for Spiritual Renewal is delighted to continue to serve many as we enter our sixth Fall Program! Serving and growing together in ministry is very life giving as we adapt to serve the needs of people everywhere. The four locations have a variety of events, facilitators, resources, and a welcoming community. We offer an exciting blended Program Guide. (Available at the bottom of this page.)

Frequently asked questions:

What is The Centre for Spiritual Renewal?

The Centre for SPIRITUAL RENEWAL is a Christian Formation coalition that began at the Parish of St. Dunstan’s and has now expanded to include St Andrew’s, St. Thomas,  and our newest partner, St. Paul's in Vancouver.  The Centre invites all people to come together for intentional time with God to gain insight, growth, and healing, in community and for the world.

What does The Centre do?

We have a strong desire to grow in God’s grace, to be a place where people come to encounter God’s loving presence, and to experience a genuine faith community. The opportunities that The Centre provides are to help deepen and widen our spiritual journeys. We invite all to gather, pray, and practice in ways that are meaningful to each person.

How does The Centre work?

The Centre combines existing spiritual formation gatherings at our partner parishes, some weekly and monthly, along with new opportunities to come together. Some of the events are simply drop-in so people can feel free to come and go as works for one's schedule. For special events (see our Events section),  people will register and, if there is a registration fee, pay the suggested donation. Scholarships are provided so all may come.

Who is involved in The Centre?

At the parish level, trained leaders and some specialized facilitators offer spiritual practices, studies, workshops, and prayer opportunities for anyone who wishes to participate,  including  families, friends, and others in the community. At times we bring in a high-profile facilitator to encourage our learning and practice.

In 2022 a group of Advisors were invited to meet regularly to listen together and share from their experience, skill sets, and wisdom. This has proven to be very valuable in offering wise insights, ideas, support, and encouragement to the directors of The Centre.

The Advisor Team: Bishop John Stephens, Rev. Tellison Glover, Rev. Jessica Schapp, Rev. Dixie Black, Rev. Anne Crosthwait, Rev. David Taylor, Rev. Lorie Martin, Rev. Andrew Halladay, Katherine Murray, Rev. Philip Cochrane.
