This past weekend was a time of healing, growth, awareness, and transformation as a group of over 20 people came together in an atmosphere of trust and love to explore nature, sound, and the beauty of Celtic Grace and culture. The setting: clear and unspoiled Loon Lake in Maple Ridge.
Each participant had the opportunity to feel and share their own unique perspectives and insights during this three-day exploration of the wonders of Celtic spirituality.
We began on Friday with an introduction to Celtic History and Mystery with David Taylor and Bruce McAndless-Davis. We looked at Celtic influence on worship music, experienced the beauty of sound meditation with Maria Koehn and her sound bowls, chimes, and nature-evoking instruments.
Saturday was a full day of Celtic spirituality beginning with Rev. Bruce McAndless-Davis who surrounded us with the beautiful and grounding truth that we are born 'Original Blessings'. We learned and practiced listening to the heartbeat of God with Katherine Murray, built a Celtic Cross, and listened to wild and wonderful stories about Celtic saints by Rev. David Taylor. The participants continued to explore their faith, insights, and spirituality while connecting with nature and each other. Music and natural sounds continued to inspire us in this journey. Celtic Morning Prayer at the Lake offered further opportunities to find connection and healing.
Sunday began with more prayer at the lake, before the final session with Katherine Murray, One With All Creation. The weekend ended with the sharing of Anglican worship, and communion with Rev. Lorie Martin presiding. We were invited to be mindful of the Communion of Saints and the Great Cloud of Witnesses - those who love us and those who cheer us on!
Many thanks to our enthusiastic group of participants. Love and gratitude to Maria Koehn, our healing sound meditation expert, and to our facilitators, David Taylor, Katherine Murray, Bruce-McAndless Davis and Lorie Martin.
